The need
What had to be solved on site?
In public sector work, the technical execution is only half the job. Even with the distribution centre built and the cubicles in place, the facility cannot be energised without TEDAŞ approval. The approval process consists of drawing compliance, site inspection and official correspondence.
Running those processes separately is the main reason such jobs drag on. When the contractor finishes the work and leaves, the approval paperwork stays with the institution, and a single missing document can delay energisation by months.
How we solved it
We undertook the construction of a distribution centre for a facility belonging to a public institution. The work covered the supply and installation of medium-voltage cubicles, third-party transformer connection procedures, and coordination with TEDAŞ throughout.
In public sector work the official process matters as much as the technical execution. Project approval, technical inspections, official correspondence and energisation steps were followed end to end.
The facility was handed over with a TEDAŞ-approved, turnkey distribution centre and complete documentation.
In this project the execution and the official process were brought under one roof. Building the distribution centre, supplying and installing the medium-voltage cubicles, handling third-party transformer connections and coordinating with TEDAŞ were all carried out by the same team.
A third-party transformer connection is the set of procedures required when supply is taken from a transformer belonging to an existing subscriber. It is not enough for the connection to be technically possible; consent from the parties, capacity suitability and the distribution company's approval are also needed. This step is usually the longest part of the job.
At the project approval stage the drawings have to match the distribution company's specification exactly. When cubicle type, protection settings or earthing details depart from the specification, the file comes back and the process restarts. The drawings were therefore checked against the specification clauses before being submitted.
Deficiencies raised at the site inspection were closed within the same week and the facility was energised. At handover, the approved project, the inspection record and the as-built drawings were transferred to the institution as a file.

Frequently asked about this application
Are a distribution centre and a transformer room the same thing?
No. A transformer room houses the unit that steps medium voltage down to low voltage. A distribution centre is the structure that distributes medium voltage to several points, holding the incoming and outgoing cubicles. One distribution centre can feed several transformers below it.
How long does TEDAŞ project approval take?
The time depends on whether the file is prepared in line with the specification first time. With a compliant file the process is predictable; but a mismatch in cubicle type, protection settings or an earthing detail sends the file back and restarts it. Checking the drawings before submission therefore shortens the timeline directly.
What does a third-party transformer connection mean?
It is the case where supply is taken not from the distribution network but from an existing subscriber's transformer. Alongside technical suitability, consent from the parties and the distribution company's approval are required. It must also be documented that the capacity can carry the new load.
